Director, Business Technology Finance Liaison

The College Board, a national educational organization, is conducting a search for a Director/ Senior Director, Business Technology Finance Liaison for our Finance Department who will be resident in our Reston, VA office. The Director will support the Chief Information Officer and Business Technology (BT) Division in managing the BT budget and forecast within the Lawson system. The Director monitors financial performance against division goals and budgets, identifies and assists BT Finance in correcting performance deficiencies, performs needed financial analysis including ROI, reports on Financial Progress, and coordinates resulting activities with other division and corporate staff. A major responsibility of this position is the maintenance of a system to charge back to programs BT costs associated with managing and developing technology projects.







Responsibilities



* Manages the financial forecasting and fiscal review processes for the Business Technology Division and for individual Business Technology cost centers.



* Supports the preparation of proposed detailed operating budgets by each budget unit, coordinating and preparing detailed unit budgets and forecasts with appropriate staff to be uploaded into the ERP system.



* Monitors income and expense performance on a monthly basis, developing variance explanations and, in conjunction with cognizant program staff, works with BT finance to recommend appropriate changes to activities and forecasts to achieve goals.



* Work with the CIO staff in identifying financial trends and provide support in making corrective actions when appropriate.



* Prepares regular financial management reports to describe current budget performance and to facilitate evaluation of alternative financial scenarios.



* Creates and maintains a system to charge back to programs BT costs associated with managing and developing technology projects.



* Provides leadership to strengthen internal control environment. Implement consistent policies and practices for financial reporting, planning and analysis across all business units in segment.



* Serves as a liaison between the Business Technology Division and the Finance Department, and coordinates division budget and finance matters with the Chief Accounting Officer, the Budget Director and others as needed. Assist with the improvement of systems and the interfacing of systems, such as linkages of BT operational systems with the Lawson Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, in order to streamline the budgeting, forecasting, and chargeback accounting processes.







Qualifications



Undergraduate degree required. MBA or CPA highly desirable. Minimum five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in budgeting, accounting and financial analysis, and with automated systems.







Requirements



* Thorough understanding of financial and operating planning and analysis.



* System report writing experience using sophisticated tools preferred.



* ERP asset management experience preferred.



* Prior project management experience required.



* To be considered for the senior director level, at least 7 years of experience plus an MBA or CPA is required, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
