Position Description

The Online Merchandising Manager establishes the strategic direction for products sold on Lowes.com ensuring sales and merchandising objectives are met. Assists in the development and implementation of business plans and coordinates the development of annual product sales and margin budgets for Lowes.com. This position serves as the online single point of contact for a specific business area\'s assortments sold on Lowes.com, this includes up to five Lowe\'s product divisions. The Online Merchandising Manager works closely with the Product Marketing Managers, Merchandising Operations, Merchants, and Fulfillment teams in optimizing the merchandising assortment and managing product placement across Lowes.com. The Online Merchandising Manager is accountable for achieving Lowes.com margin and sales objectives. Responsibilities also include scanning and identifying environmental issues that impact online retail selling environments, keeping informed of industry trends and business issues, identifying opportunities to grow online sales and the quality of product content on lowes.com.



Essential Functions and Responsibilities:



Participate, as needed, in 3-5 year planning sessions and Online Business Plan development and evaluate and recommend category solutions.



Manage and publish the merchandising calendar.



Manage and implement product taxonomy for assigned Merchandising business areas.



Manage product marketing and placement in \"virtual endcaps\" throughout the Lowes.com family of websites.



Manage product merchandising and placement in \"virtual endcaps\" throughout the Lowes.com family of websites.



Support the development of product demos by working with Category Managers, Merchants and Vendors.



Support Merchandising goals by executing online implementations identified in Merchant Strategic Plans.



Partner with fulfillment to identify unproductive inventory for clearance or markdown.



Partner with the pricing organization to fully support pricing programs, including NLP, and the markdown process.



Support the evaluation and implementation of Lowe\'s participation in shopping portals.



Support the execution of item set-up for Internet only products



Identify and recommend \'Best Practices\' for Internet selling, and facilitate their sharing and implementation across all business areas.



Attend Merchandising and Vendor meetings as needed discussing category solutions and related problems, sharing insights learned from other areas, and communicating changes, process and procedure.



Communicate and recommend Product Placements online to Product Marketing Managers, and work to implement approved programs.



Work closely with online search team to adjust the taxonomy based on customer behavior





Position Requirements

1. 4 year degree

2. 3+ years experience in retail product merchandising

3. 3+ years online experience in retail product merchandising


4. Experience in or *passion* for home improvement.


5. Excellent oral and written communication skills


6. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously


7. Project design and/or management skills


8. Negotiation and relationship building skills


9. Excellent time management/organizational skills


10. Working knowledge of User Centered Design Principles and Practices


11. Ability to follow existing standards





Preferred Qualifications


1. MBA or equivalent work experience

2. 5+ years experience in online retail product merchandising


3. Knowledge of Lowe\'s Merchandising systems


4. High degree of familiarity with the retail industry as a whole - preferably in the Home Improvement sector


5. Experience in program/project or category management


Experience: Mid-Career
Education: 4 years
